On 24 and 25 April 2010, farmers participated in the expansion of the community tree nurseries at Butikiro and Kiyuni villages that were established with support from SLINT-Uganda and Nabuur volunteers under the "Gayaza Smallholder Fruit-Tree Growing and Community Forestry Project". The farmers participated in the construction of additional tree nursery shades, preparation of the potting soil mixture, filling of the polythene pots with soil (potting) and sowing of seeds in the pots. High value tree species are to be raised and distributed to farmers for planting on their farms.
